A Thankful Life..!!

Just as Mahesh left for office, Riya slumped in her favorite chair with a steaming cup of coffee after waving him from their balcony. It was 6:30 AM and this was her most precious ME-time everyday. There was still half an hour for Renu, her 3 year old daughter to wake-up and make her day busy again.

It was raining since last night and Riya was now enjoying her favorite season with her favorite Nescafe. She had always loved the smell of wet soil, rain-washed roads and trees with music, it was her HEAVEN. The sound of splattering rain-drops would ease her worries, soothe her thoughts and bring a smile to her face ; no matter how tired and restless she was.

Before Renu, she enjoyed her favorite season with camps and trek trips with unknown groups to nearby forts, and camps. With Mahesh, rains and long-drive went hand in hand. How she missed these things since 3+ years..!!

Once her thoughts brought in Mahesh, Riya unknowingly scanned her 10 years of married life. Her' was an arrange marriage with only a year of age-gap. Riya smiled..!!. The less age-gap and an unknown family had created friction in new life initially. Of-course they seem trivial now.

The friction had caused cracks in their relationship by 2nd year of marriage itself. Mahesh was specially in soup as he was the only son and wanted best of/for both worlds. The typical issues of any married life.

Sailing smoothly through the rough patch of 1-2 years, both moved into their own home. Riya remained neutral towards her in-laws and never interfered into Mahesh and his family’ space. All she desired now was a peaceful life. Her job, family and daughter were most precious to her. The ups-&-downs had brought them closer over time.

They still argue and fight. The make-up session still continue. The phone-calls, family gatherings also still continue, but not at cost of her peace.

In their past 5 years as couple, the once indecisive Mahesh, stood like a ROCK behind her and her decisions. They mutually took decisions; from completing their high education, accommodating their official travels, delaying to start their own family. Mahesh handled them all at his end. He would certainly update Riya, but never left her to face his parents alone.

The peace and solace Riya has today, she owes it all to Mahesh. Without his support and faith, she knew none of this was possible in her life. And she makes sure to show her gratitude through her actions.

As Riya heard Renu’ soft footsteps, she had the last sip of her coffee, smiled as she realized this is what being married and having a family is all about and thanked her stars for bringing Mahesh in her life.

She went inside to start her daily routine..!!
