In these testing times, even packaged natural products contain chemicals in some or the other form. It is best to go back to our ancestral way of living. Though these methods take time to show their effects, Using DIY skin and hair care routines, helps in & for long run.


Today, we are offered products which contains extracts from these fruits/ veggies/pulses which are easily available for our daily use, wherein kitchen is the best place to find these items.

  • The vegetables - For inner strength - gooseberry, coconuts, curry leaves, tomatoes, onion , potatoes etc /

  • Fruits - for inner strength building

  • Rice , gram flour, curd, lemon ,etc.


Whatever is safe to consume, is safe for skin and hair.

Ingredient: RICE (Any Type)


A widely used grain/seed , RICE is vastly used as part of daily diet in form of cooked rice or rice flour preparations. Apart from its dietary usage, rice can be also be used externally for hair and skin care routines. Use it in form of rice water OR rice flour, either of these forms effectively. Today, the cosmetic industry is offering products with RICE extracts, something which we consume daily or atleast once a week.


Benefits of Rice Water - Hair and Skin

  • Fermented rice releases carbohydrates and antioxidants which makes rice water useful to enhance scalp health by maintaining its pH levels and trigger hair growth.

  • It makes hair look healthy, shiny and fuller.

  • It repairs skin and makes it more elastic and healthy.

  • It reduces fine lines and pores, and brightens skin.


Rice Water Preparation


**Atleast 1 day fermentation is needed.

** The water should be at room temperature before usage.


Method 1:

  • Take 1-2 spoons of rice grain in a bowl.

  • Wash it thoroughly with water 1-2 times.

  • Add required amount of water to the washed rice grain and stir for a minute.

  • Cover the mixture and let it sit for 24 hours before usage.

  • Strain the rice to collect water in a bowl OR Spray bottle.

  • Use required amount of water and store remaining in fridge for next day usage.

Method 2:

**This method uses the daily rice preparation process. No rice grain wasted.

  • While preparing rice for any meal, discard the water from 1st wash of rice.

  • Add water for 2nd wash, thoroughly clean the rice and collect the white water in a bowl/bottle.

  • Ferment this water for ~12 hrs. Generally, water collected will be more, so can be used multiple times.

  • Cook rice for your meal as you do regularly.

  • Collect water as per your rice cooking schedule, so that you dont run out the rice water.


Applying Rice Water - Hair & Skin

**The water gives off pungent odor due to fermentation, but it gets washed off with plain water.


For Hair

  • Take the white rice water in a spray bottle or bowl.

  • Hair should be washed and combed (1st/2nd day washed hair)

  • Spray the water starting from scalp to the tip of hair. **Can be applied using finger or brush

  • Make sure each strand is covered with rice water.

  • Tie hair in a bun/pony/hair-clip and allow it to sit for 20-30 mins max.

  • Wash off with plain water (regular/lukewarm water, no hot water).

  • Repeat weekly or bi-weekly and experience difference in your hair texture and growth.

For Skin

  • Take the white rice water in a spray bottle/bowl.

  • Wash face before application.

  • Spray the water on face and neck region OR apply using cotton.

  • Allow it to sit for 10-15 mins max.

  • Wash off with plain water (regular/warm water) - No hot water, no face wash.

  • Repeat once daily to witness skin improvement.

Follow the process diligently and you will definitely see results over time.
