Vajreshwari is a village situated near the Tansa River in the Bhiwandi Taluka of Thane, Maharashtra, India. It is famous for the Vajreshwari Temple and hot water springs.
The village is named after Goddess Vajreshwari, the presiding deity of the Vajreshwari Temple on a small hill.
Local Community: Maharashtrians, Marathi being the local language. The nearby forest has local tribes residents. .
How To Reach:
Start your journey early in the morning to make most of your day.
From Mumbai: The approximate distance from Mumbai to Vajreshwari Temple is around 80 kilometers, and the road trip takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic conditions.
From Thane: The temple is about 2 hours car drive along NH48. Once NH48 is left behind, you need to travel along the local roads, which are not in good condition (**as on time of my visit).
Take the Mumbai-Nashik Expressway and follow the signs towards Nashik. Vajreshwari Temple is located near the town of Bhiwandi, which is on the route to Nashik.

Ideal Visit Time: Rainy/Winter Seasons (July-Feb)

The gabhara has 6 idols:

The entire temple is surrounded by a stone wall like a fort and the hill ranges are visible from the top.
A golden tortoise (Kurma - Lord Vishnu' incarnation ) is carved on one of the steps.
The view from top is picturesque with greenery and cool breeze (post/during rainy season), though summers are hot and humid.
Local food is available near the temple.
Ample space for parking.
~:HotWater Springs:~
Approximately 1 KM from the temple, situated at banks of Tansa river, there are natural hot water springs. The water is rich in sulphur and is boiling hot even in rainy season. It is believed that skin ailments can be cured by taking dip into this water, for its sulphuric properties. There are walled areas built surrounding the water inlet for visitors to sit beside and get water (sprinkled) on themselves.
